(USTDA) USTDA Supports Azerbaijan Reaching Category 1 Aviation Safety Rating from the FAA

BAKU, AZERBAIJAN – The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) congratulates the Republic of Azerbaijan's State Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) on achieving Category 1 Aviation Safety Rating, in compliance with international standards, which was announced Friday by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In support of Azerbaijan's efforts leading up to this evaluation, USTDA supported an aviation safety technical assistance program for the SCAA that was undertaken by The Wicks Group (Washington, D.C.). The purpose of this assistance was to help Azerbaijan meet international standards in order to achieve a Category 1 Aviation Safety Rating. The Category 1 status will facilitate establishing direct flights between Azerbaijan and the United States, supporting industry in both countries.

"The success of this project is a testament to the continued hard work and dedication by SCAA, the U.S. Government and the Wicks Group," said USTDA Director Leocadia I. Zak. "We are pleased to contribute to this result and look forward to continued closer economic ties with Azerbaijan."
