ARLINGTON, Va. – Today, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency announced its
partnership with Arlington Economic Development through the Agency's Making
Global Local initiative.
“USTDA is proud to be headquartered in Arlington, and we look forward to
collaborating with Arlington Economic Development on innovative ways to increase
the area’s exports to emerging markets and to support high-paying jobs in
northern Virginia,” said Ashley E. Chang, USTDA’s Director of Public
Engagement.
Over the past few years, U.S. companies have increasingly targeted emerging
economies as export destinations. Given its unique role, USTDA is perfectly
positioned to help its Making Global Local partners support U.S. businesses
interested in entering or expanding their presence in developing and
middle-income countries.
Making Global Local connects companies across the country to USTDA’s export
promotion programs through strategic partnerships between the Agency and local
economic development organizations. By understanding USTDA’s programs and
priorities, Arlington Economic Development can help its member companies
identify sales opportunities in emerging markets. Its stakeholders will also be
connected to USTDA’s reverse trade missions, which offered 697 U.S. firms the
opportunity to meet with foreign decision-makers during 32 events in 69 U.S.
cities last year alone.
