USTDA Supports Green Airport Initiatives at Mexico City's New International Airport

September 7, 2016

(USTDA) Mexico City – The U.S. Trade and Development Agency signed an agreement today supporting Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México, S.A. de C.V (GACM), the concessionaire of the Mexico City’s new international airport (NAICM).

USTDA will collaborate with GACM on best practices related to green airport construction and operations. The project will utilize renewable energy resources, promote the use of public transit and develop programs to protect the environment including water resources, wildlife and vegetation.

“USTDA is pleased to partner with GACM on this important project,” said USTDA Director Leocadia I. Zak. “The new airport in Mexico City is expected to become one of the busiest airports in the world, which provides a great opportunity to showcase environmentally sustainable airport construction and operations.”

NAICM is set to replace the existing Benito Juarez International Airport by 2020.

Businesses interested in submitting proposals for this USTDA-funded technical assistance should visit the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website at www.fbo.gov. A link to the FBO announcement will be posted to USTDA’s website at https://www.ustda.gov/business-opportunities.
