USTDA Supports Cameroon's Efforts to Improve Water Supply

September 29, 2016

(USTDA) ARLINGTON, Va. – This week, during the 15th AGOA Forum, U.S. Trade and Development Agency Director Leocadia I. Zak announced support for the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation’s efforts to rehabilitate and expand its existing water supply infrastructure. The grant will help the state-owned water utility implement treatment and distribution facilities in 11 municipalities across the country.

“Camwater has already taken a number of significant steps to improve their infrastructure and expand water access,” said Director Zak. “We’re proud to help them build on these important efforts by connecting them with a leading U.S. firm.”

Camwater has selected Environmental Chemical Corporation (Burlingame, Calif.) to conduct the feasibility study. Together, they will evaluate existing water services and infrastructure, assess water supply augmentation and service area water needs, and develop financing arrangements.

The grant agreement was signed in Yaoundé, Cameroon last month.
